Our goal is to help people feel empowered by releasing tension, improving mobility and enhancing coordination. We believe everyone deserves to move with ease so they can confidently step out into the world. Currently, Fifth Line is focused on ensuring a unique and personalized experience on the Pulley Tower with private sessions in this intimate space.

Meet the Pulley Tower

Yes, the first machine most people try—the Pulley Tower—has been compared to a torture device. Don’t be intimidated by the moving elements and weights; you’ll soon learn to love them as you continue your practice. What the body feels after using it is the complete opposite of torture. There are two main components to the machine: the tower and the bench. The bench features adjustable height and attached arms called the handle unit, which move in smooth circles with customizable length and resistance. Its imposing partner, the tower, houses the weight plates and springs that attach to the cables. Just remember two simple habits when using it: always use two hands to carry the weight plates, and always guide the cables gently back to the tower.

What to Expect in Your First Private Session

Now that you have a better understanding of the equipment, let's talk about what you can expect in a private session. Starting slow with an adequate amount of challenge will ensure you learn the fundamentals, and progression will come sooner than you think. Coordinating and exploring new movements may be tricky, but there is no need to fret—the private Gyrotonic® session is all about YOU. Trainers can spot when it is necessary to modify movements and will cue you accordingly.

Usually, a first session starts with moving the spine in three planes of motion—gentle movements that increase in range only when your body is ready. You'll realize breathwork is essential to the practice as this aids the body in moving efficiently. Next, the hamstrings are woken up when the straps are placed on your feet. At this moment, the abdominals and legs begin working as a unit. Then we move on to the upper body. Keyboard warriors will love this section. Though you are working out your upper back, it feels more like the much deserved respite you've been longing for. Additional leg and abdominal exercises may be included in your session that culminates in an upper-body opening that has the entire body moving and applying everything it has experienced in the last 60 minutes. There is a myriad of movement possibilities that can occur in a session, and hopefully, you can experience them all with regular Gyrotonic® practice.

How You’ll Feel Afterward

After an hour, you will feel longer, lighter, and stronger on your feet. You may even be slightly baffled as to what just happened! A delayed muscle ache may develop later in the day - that's just your muscles adapting. Muscles that were once dormant are now slowly waking up. That is the magic of the Gyrotonic® method. It is a unique mind-body practice. You will feel loose and opened up, yet completely connected to your deep strength. Those exact feelings are what kept the founder close to this modality, and we can't wait for you to experience them too here at our Makati studio.
